Young Om Landge is 10 years old, a bright child fond of cricket and painting. He studies in Santutai English Medium school on the outskirts of Pune.

At the age of 5 he was diagnosed with extra hepatic portal venous obstruction (EHPVO) at a Children's speciality in Pune. This is a  condition wherein the main blood supply to the liver, the portal vein, is blocked and replaced by bypass channels, some of which develop in the food pipe.  These can rupture and cause life threatening blood vomits.

Every two months he had bouts of blood vomiting requiring emergency hospitalization and blood transfusions. His parents are farmers and have been using their personal resources to fund his treatment. He has been improving progressively with the right medication The bouts of vomiting have reduced with regular endoscopic therapy. This ensures that he can enjoy the good things in life for a period of about four to six months. He needs treatment for another 3 to 4 years each session costing him about Rs 20,000/-
