Abstract

AIM OF THE STUDY:
To determine the prevalence and clinical profile of glycogen storage diseases (GSD) in children in western India.

MATERIAL AND METHODS:
This retrospective analysis was conducted over a period of 7 years from 2006 to 2012. All children diagnosed with GSD on liver biopsy were included in the study. Their clinical history, examination, biochemical profile and outcome were noted.

Abstract

PURPOSE:
Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (A1ATD) in one of the most common genetic causes of liver disease in children. We aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with A1ATD.

METHODS:
This study included patients with A1ATD from five pediatric hepatology units. Demographics, clinical findings, genetics, and outcome of the patients were recorded (n=25).

Abstract

BACKGROUND:
Children with idiopathic acute liver failure (IALF) are at a high risk of developing life-threatening bone marrow failure (BMF). The aim of the study was to describe the development, therapy and prognosis of this hepatitis-associated aplastic anaemia (HAAA) in comparison to isolated acquired aplastic anaemia.
