Wolcott-Rallison Syndrome- Endocrinopathy with Recurrent Acute Liver Failure.
Valamparampil JJ1, Shanmugam N2, Rela M3.

Abstract

A 2-yr-old child with early onset diabetes and hypothyroidism, and diagnosed as Wolcott-Rallison Syndrome, developed two episodes of acute liver failure and recovered, but he remains at high risk of developing another episode of acute liver failure. Autoimmune, metabolic or genetic disorders should be evaluated in children with recurrent acute liver failure and genetic tests needs to be considered.

Health-Related Quality of Life and Cognitive Functioning in Pediatric Liver Transplant Recipients.
Beath SV1, Wray J2.

Abstract

Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) research remains somewhat of a Cinderella pursuit despite a good quality of life being one of the most valued attributes of human existence. Studies reporting HRQOL and that other important entity cognitive function remain somewhat rare, partly because HRQoL is a subjective, concept which is difficult to define and quantify, and also because the number and range of tools for measuring HRQOL makes comparison between groups of patients difficult and meta-analysis almost impossible.

Prediction of perioperative outcome after hepatic resection for pediatric patients.

Liu J1, Zhang Y2, Zhu H2, Qiu L3, Guo C4,5,6,7.

Abstract

BACKGROUND:
Hepatic resection is associated with significant risk of morbidity and mortality. Optimising the surgical techniques and perioperative management may improve in operative morbidity and mortality. However, perioperative variables involved in the improvement for postoperative outcomes in pediatric hepatectomy have not been defined.
