Sahinturk H1, Ozdemirkan A, Zeyneloglu P, Torgay A, Pirat A, Haberal M.

Abstract

OBJECTIVES:
Duration of postoperative mechanical ventilation after pediatric liver transplant may influence pulmonary functions, and postoperative prolonged mechanical ventilation is associated with higher morbidity and mortality. Here, we determined its incidence and risk factors after pediatric liver transplant at our center.

Psychotropic Medications are Associated with Increased Liver Disease Severity in Pediatric NAFLD.

Mouzaki M1, Yodoshi T1, Arce-Clachar AC1, Bramlage K1, Fei L2, Hunsaker SL3, Xanthakos SA1.

Abstract

OBJECTIVES:
To determine whether pediatric patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) exposed to psychotropic medications have more severe liver disease compared to their counterparts who are not on these medications. We hypothesize that use of psychotropic agents is associated with liver disease severity.

Abstract

BACKGROUND:
The interaction between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and chronic hepatitis B infection (CBI) was unclear. We aimed to investigate the association between NAFLD and CBI and the effect of NAFLD on response to antiviral therapy in pediatric population.

Association Between Vitamin D Deficiency and Suspected Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in an Adolescent Population.

Cho YH1, Kim JW1, Shim JO2, Yang HR1, Chang JY1, Moon JS1, Ko JS1.

Abstract

PURPOSE:
Vitamin D deficiency is a condition widespread throughout the world. Recent studies have suggested that vitamin D deficiency was associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in adolescents.
