In India a large number of children are being afflicted by chronic liver diseases, especially viral infections like hepatitis B and C. For example an ongoing study being conducted by CLF reveals a high incidence of Hepatitis B and C among children suffering with Thalassemia.
An increasing number of kids are also being diagnosed with rare conditions like Wilson's disease, Gaucher's disease amongst others. Treatment and investigations of these conditions are expensive, and a vast majority of parents cannot provide their children with adequate treatment due to lack of resources. |
